ATCO Indigenous Education Awards

APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 16, 2024

ATCO’s Indigenous Education Awards Program supports students from First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities who demonstrate a balanced lifestyle and commitment in their quest for education. The Merit, Bursary, Scholarship and Bridging Awards are available to select students who demonstrate leadership capabilities and strive to be role models in their school and community.

  • Bursaries ($1200) – for students enrolled in trade/community technical college diploma or certificate program

  • Scholarships ($1800) – for students enrolled in degree or graduate programs

  • Bridging Awards ($1000) – for students registered in an upgrading program (Adult Basic Education) or University Preparation program

There is a maximum of one award per applicant per student year. Students may re-apply each year if they wish to be considered for another award.

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • Self-identify as Indigenous in Canada (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis);

  • Are enrolled full-time in junior/senior high school (including upgrading) or an accredited post-secondary institution or training/certificate program;

  • Are not a child of an ATCO employee.


RBC Future Launch Scholarship for Indigenous Youth

APPLICATIONS OPEN: FALL 2024

The RBC Future Launch Scholarship for Indigenous Youth will award 20 scholarships annually valued up to $10,000 each per year (up to 4 years) to First Nations, Inuit and Métis students across Canada demonstrating strong academic performance and community involvement.

RBC has been providing a scholarship for Indigenous students to complete post-secondary education since 1992. To date, more than $2 million dollars have been awarded to 258 Indigenous youth across Canada pursuing post-secondary education.

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • You are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada.

  • You have applied or are currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada.

  • You maintain a full course load that leads to a recognized degree, certificate or diploma.

  • You have shown strong potential to successfully complete the post-secondary program.

  • You require financial assistance to pursue your education.

  • You are not an RBC employee or a dependent of an RBC employee.

  • You are between the ages of 15-29 at the time of application.

  • Recipients of the RBC Capital Markets Pathways Diversity Awards program are not eligible for this scholarship.

Canadian educational institutions which have recognized provincial degree/diploma-granting powers, or their affiliates (e.g. vocational schools, colleges, universities)

Field or Program of Study:

  • There are no restrictions on the discipline or field of study

  • The program must be a minimum of one year in duration

  • University preparatory programs in any jurisdiction are not eligible

Canada Post Education Award

APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 31, 2024

Canada Post gives $2,000 grants to Indigenous Peoples who have renewed their educational learning.

You’re eligible to apply if you:

  • Are a Canadian and a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit community

  • Have been out of school for 1 year or more and are returning

  • Have already returned to school and completed 1 full year of studies

  • Have never received this award in the past (you can apply as many times as you want, but you can only receive the award once)
